Analytics cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and PostHog sets one (ph_*) to count visits and tell a returning browser from a new one. They hold a random identifier, not your name and not your files.
Vercel Analytics sets no cookies.
Local storage
Your theme and interface preferences are kept in local storage, not in a cookie. So is your answer to any in-app question we ask, so that we do not ask twice. These never leave your browser.
PostHog also keeps its random visitor identifier in local storage, and sends that identifier with the analytics events described in the privacy policy.
Advertising cookies
Google AdSense sets cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure them. On this site they include __gads, __gpi and __eoi; on Google’s own domains, others such as IDE. Where personalised ads are allowed, the same cookies are used to choose ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
Google is the only ad network here. We add no retargeting pixels of our own.
Turning them off
Blocking cookies in your browser settings, or using a content blocker, disables the analytics and advertising cookies. Personalised ads alone are switched off at adssettings.google.com. Every tool continues to work — they run locally and need no cookie at all.
